Nathan Klein, Andrew Senger, and Sammy Shaker have been named 2015 Barry M. Goldwater Scholars. The prestigious, competitive scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue research-oriented careers in mathematics, the natural science, and engineering. Nathan is majoring in mathematics and chemistry, and interested in problems related to public health through the interdisciplinary perspectives of mathematics, chemistry, and nanotechnology. Andrew is a mathematics major, and interested in the interaction of homotopy theory, algebraic geometry, and number theory. Sammy is majoring in mathematics and chemistry, and interested in error-correcting codes and combinatorics as well as the chemistry of nanomaterials and bio-composites.
