Gabriela Jaramillo has been awarded an NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship. She will be receiving her Ph.D. degree this year under the direction of Prof. Arnd Scheel. Her NSF project involves understanding the role of defects in pattern forming systems and how they create or modify a pattern. Applications include convection patterns, patterns in chemical reactions, and moving defects. She will be going to the University of Arizona, to work with Prof. Shankar Venkataramani.
