Professor Douglas Arnold has been elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, in recognition of his "outstanding research in the design, analysis, and implementation of algorithms for the numerical solution of partial differential equations, and for the leadership ofSIAM."

The 503 members elected also includes Mostafa Kavah and Yousef Saad from the University of Minnesota, and Eric Jolly from the Science Museum of Minnesota
