  • Aileen Conlon Lyle

    Aileen Conlon Lyle

    MAAA, FCAS; MCFAM Actuarial Lecturer & Academic Advisor

    Ms. Lyle is responsible for teaching actuarial classes for MCFAM, as well as advising actuarial students on academic issues and providing career counseling. She is also involved in developing partnerships with the actuarial business sector. Ms. Lyle has over thirty years of actuarial expertise in the property/casualty and health insurance industries. She has worked for Milliman, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, the Travelers Companies, and CNA. She has extensive experience in pricing, product development, reserving and financial forecasting for both property/casualty and health insurance products. She is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. She has a Bachelors of Science in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. She is a board member for several non-profit organizations in the Twin Cities, and is a commissioner for the city of Woodbury, MN.

  • Breanne Richins

    Breanne Richins

    FSA and MCFAM Senior Actuarial Program Specialist

    Breanne Richins is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. Prior to joining MCFAM she worked at Securian Financial Group as an Associate Actuary for 10 years. Ms. Richins has broad actuarial experience including individual life pricing and product development, economic valuation of liabilities and actuarial modeling of new and existing products. She received her Bachelor degree in Statistics with an emphasis in Actuarial Science from Brigham Young University. She teaches Theory of Interest and Actuarial Mathematics in the University of Minnesota’s Actuarial Mathematics program.  She also advises actuarial students on their careers and research projects and supports actuarial program development within MCFAM.

  • Brad Diaz

    Brad Diaz

    Mercer Government Human Services Consulting

    Brad Diaz is a Senior Associate and Actuary at Mercer Government Human Services Consulting. His practice at Mercer includes pricing and forecasting of medical costs as well as assisting government entities with regulatory filings and compliance. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Prior to working at Mercer, Brad worked in trend analytics and forecasting at United Health Group's Optum Insight for 6 years. Brad also teaches a 5-week module in the University of Minnesota's course called "Actuarial Mathematics in Practice". He has a degree in Statistics at the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

  • Brandi Dries

    Brandi Dries

    FSA, MAAA Cigna-HealthSpring

    Brandi Dries-Virgin is an Actuarial Manager with Cigna-HealthSpring specializing in Medicare-related actuarial work. Brandi is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Prior to working at Cigna-HealthSpring, she was a Senior Associate at Mercer primarily focused on managing comprehensive rate-setting projects for state Medicaid programs and worked as an Actuarial Analyst at Allianz Life and Cigna. Brandi has been involved with teaching Actuarial Exam workshops for the University of Minnesota's Actuarial Mathematics program. She has her B.S. in Statistics from Iowa State University.

  • David Pitts

    David Pitts

    Consulting Actuary, FSA Deloitte Consulting LLP

    Dave has over 15 years of experience assisting private sector, state and local governments, and unions with the design and administration of their retirement plans and retiree medical programs. In addition to Deloitte, his career includes work at, Milliman a global actuarial and consulting firm. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is an active volunteer at both Junior Achievement and Special Olympics.

  • Helen Muller

    Helen Simonett

    FCAS Associate Actuary - Travelers

    Helen is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and has been at The Travelers Companies for over 6 years. She is currently working as an Associate Actuary in Personal Lines Pricing. She previously worked in Commercial Accounts providing strategic actuarial decision-making and guidance to two regions that generate approximately $400M in net revenue. Prior to this role she worked in National Accounts for 2 years where she had responsibility for loss sensitive pricing support in the Worker's Compensation, General Liability, and Auto Liability areas. Helen also worked for two years in Middle Market Loss Analytics where she was involved in quarterly reserve reviews of the Auto line of business for Middle Market business units. She has interned at both Mercer and The Travelers Companies. In 2010 Helen received a BS in Business and a BS in Actuarial Mathematics from the University of 

  •  Melanie Christensen

    Melanie Christensen

    FSA, Senior Director Actuary, Product Development Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America

    Melanie Christensen leads the fixed annuity product development team at Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America. In her many years of experience with the company, Melanie has been involved in the development and pricing of fixed indexed annuity products, development of a dynamic hedging platform, and has been involved in analysis of the general account investment strategy, capital requirements, and various other projects. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota, is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She is also an adjunct lecturer in the University of Minnesota's Actuarial Program.

  • Rick Lassow

    Rick Lassow

    Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, FSA

    Rick is a director of risk adjustment and health reform activities in the actuarial department at Blue Cross Blue Shield of MN. He was a consultant at Milliman specializing in Medicare Advantage, Medicaid programs, and high-risk pools. Rick holds degrees in mathematics from St. Olaf College and the University of Nebraska. He volunteers with USTA Northern and InnerCity Tennis, created a module for the University of Minnesota's Actuarial Mathematics in Practice course, and enjoys playing tennis and amateur chemistry.
