Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics has student chapters around the world organising various activities.
The chapter at the University of Minnesota joins in the events and hold, for instance, regular talks during the semester.

On May 12th, 2012, the SIAM chapter had a beginning of summer BBQ.
The Art, Thrill, and Peril of Mathematical Modeling
The Chapter will receive Dr. Robert Tranquillo for a presentation on
Perfusion of a Tissue-Engineered Microvascular Network: The Art, Thrill, and Peril of Mathematical Modeling. The talk will be in Rapson 56 (new!) on April 25th, at 4:30.
Modeling Contest in Mathematics
A five days long fun international contest for undergraduates during which the participating teams create a mathematical model.
It is organised by
COMAP,
and usually happens at the beginning of February.
This year, the SIAM Chapter is
organizing the local groups.
Computer Group
Every week different aspects of coding are discussed. The group is meeting on Wednesday's at 15:45 in Vincent Hall 570.
