Mathematics Seminars for the week of September 8, 2003

Colloquium

Thursday, 3:30, in VinH 16

Professor Dihua Jiang
will speak on
"Langlands Functoriality for Classical Groups"

Langlands functoriality is a basic principle which asserts the intrinsic relations between automorphic forms on different groups. Among many significant implications is the well-known Artin conjecture: the Artin L- series attached to non-trivial irreducible representations of Galois groups of a number field is entire. In this talk, I will explain what is meant by Langlands functoriality for classical groups and discuss the recent progress on this problem
