"Langlands Functoriality for Classical Groups"
Langlands functoriality is a basic principle which asserts the intrinsic relations between automorphic forms on different groups. Among many significant implications is the well-known Artin conjecture: the Artin L- series attached to non-trivial irreducible representations of Galois groups of a number field is entire. In this talk, I will explain what is meant by Langlands functoriality for classical groups and discuss the recent progress on this problem
The IMA is offering a course called "Theory and Applications of Random Matrices" next week (Sept. 8-12). See http://www.ima.umn.edu/newsletters/ for more information.
