Spring 2006 - 1142 Short Calculus
In Spring semester 2006 I lead two discussion sessions to the 1142 Short Calculus lecture by Gabriel Koch. We meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30AM in VoTech 280 (Section 011) and at 9:35AM in ClaOff Bldg. B25 (Section 012).

Literature: "Calculus for Business, Economics, and the Social and Life Sciences", L.D. Hoffmann, G.L. Bradley, 8th edition.

Algebra Preliminary Exam

On the beginning of the semester there was a preliminary algebra exam given to help students determine their strengths and weaknesses regarding algebra skills important for the further study.

Quizzes

Each Thursday there is a 15 minutes quiz given in each of the discussion sections. The solutions are posted on this web site. You may also see how did you score comparing to the group. The first value refers always to section 011, the second to section 012. (Average means the usual average score of the whole group. Median gives the score that was achieved by 50% of the group that is, half of your group scored above the median.)

Midterm Exams

There will be three midterm exams in the semester conducted during the Thursdays discussion sessions. The midterms will take place on Feb. 23, Mar. 30, Apr. 20. The solutions of the problems from the exams can be downloaded from this site.

On May 8, 2006 at 1:30 PM there was a final exam given. These are the point distribution charts in both sections.

The average in all sections of 1142 Short Calculus was 167.06. The combined median was 169.
