A brief collection of tips for people transitioning to the Core 5 release of Fedora Linux from an earlier release or different Unix.
- A command line Terminal can be found under the Applications > Accessories > Terminal menu.
- To add a panel button for Terminal (or any other application), click on the icon then drag and drop onto onto the panel (gray bar on the top of the screen).
- The "Log Out" command can be found under the 'System' menu at the top of the screen.
- To eject at cd or usb thumbdrive, right click on the device's desktop icon and choose eject or unmount volume.
- The CUPS print software's version of lpr can print pdf files from the command line...
lpr -Pvinp270 foo.pdf
- Core 5 includes the Beamer class for making slides with LaTeX.
- You can take screenshots with different applications: KDE's ksnapshot, Gnome's gnome-screenshot, and ImageMagick's import.
- A software list is available. We have 1.3k of 5.7k readily available packages installed. Core 3 had about 900 packages installed.
